Description

This VTAP50 OEM contactless reader board is the most compact option in the VTAP range. It too can read and decrypt NFC pass data from Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, with a simple tap, and transfer that data to other systems. It is fully certified by both Apple and Google, to work with their respective VAS and Smart Tap protocols, supporting automatic pass selection on iOS, as well as on-board decryption.

As well as reading passes from iPhone or Android mobile phones, it will also read UID or secure encoded data from many types of RFID and NFC cards and tags, including MIFARE Classic and DESFire.

This integrator-ready VTAP50 OEM reader can be embedded for use in many environments, including retail loyalty, cashless payment, gym check-in, and sports ticketing. Being separate from any payment mechanism simplifies data and security considerations, and the human experience. Although it cannot support EMV payments, the VTAP reader can be used for stored value and points redemption applications.
Pass data can be output over USB in the same way as a mag-stripe, barcode or QR code scanner, using a keyboard emulation or a virtual COM port interface, or a serial RS-232 interface can be used for command, data transfer and logging. This makes it easy to upgrade existing systems by adding a VTAP50, without software changes, to transition from a card or ticket experience to one where passes are wholly electronic.

A USB connection from any PC is used to configure the VTAP50, by editing simple text files. Keys can be easily updated but cannot be extracted from the device. The configuration can be locked, so that the device is password protected or read-only in general use.

The VTAP50 OEM reader board is ready for you to integrate into your own housing. It comes without cables, but includes a micro-USB connector in addition to a standard 8 pin 2mm pitch connector with both USB and serial RS-232 connections. This is everything needed to get started with mobile NFC pass reading. You will have access to create demonstration mobile passes, so that you can test your application. For production purposes you will need to use a third-party pass provider, or integrate directly with Apple and Google.

Includes a free license for Dot Origin's popular Read-a-Card software on request - ideal for customers wanting to integrate with web or desktop applications without using keyboard emulation.

If the VTAP50 OEM reader board does not fit your requirement, check out the larger VTAP100 NFC reader options. These include specific models with Wiegand or OSDP interfaces for access control and turnstiles, and a boxed version in a neat compact case for desktop or wall mounting.
