Description

This VTAP100 PRO contactless reader can read and decrypt NFC pass data from Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, with a simple tap, and transfer that data to other systems over USB, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. It is fully certified by both Apple and Google, to work with their respective VAS and Smart Tap protocols, supporting automatic pass selection on iOS, as well as on-board decryption.

You can use the VTAP Cloud online service (subscription required) to configure the VTAP100 PRO reader and route tap data to another system in real time, such as your membership, loyalty or ticketing platform. Configure with VTAP100 PRO reader in Local mode to use Bluetooth features, route tap data, receive barcode scanner inputs or operate as a BLE beacon. Let us know when you order (in the Special Instructions box) whether you need this reader for use in Local mode or Cloud mode.

As well as reading passes from iPhone or Android mobile phones, it will also read UID or secure encoded data from many types of RFID and NFC cards and tags, including MIFARE Classic and DESFire.

This boxed VTAP100 PRO reader can be used in many environments, including retail loyalty, cashless payment, gym check-in, and sports ticketing. Being separate from any payment mechanism simplifies data and security considerations, and the human experience. Although it cannot support EMV payments, the VTAP reader can be used for stored value and points redemption applications.

Pass data can be output over USB keyboard emulation or a serial interface in the same way as a mag-stripe, barcode or QR code scanner. This makes it easy to upgrade existing systems by adding a VTAP100, without software changes, to transition from a card or ticket experience to one where passes are wholly electronic. When operating in Cloud mode the VTAP100 PRO just connects to local power and a Wi-Fi network, and sends tap data to the VTAP Cloud platform, which routes the data to the chosen third-party system in real time. Responses can also be routed back to the reader, to control LEDs, buzzer and the optional expansion I/O box, for access control applications.

In Cloud mode, configuration of the VTAP100 PRO reader is via the VTAP Cloud online platform. In Local mode the reader uses USB or Bluetooth for local system connectivity, then a USB connection from any PC is used to configure the VTAP100, by editing simple text files. Keys can be easily updated but cannot be extracted from the device. The configuration can be locked, so that the device is password protected or read-only in general use.

The VTAP100 PRO reader has a compact desktop case with a captive USB cable. This is everything needed to get started with mobile NFC pass reading. You will have access to create demonstration mobile passes, so that you can test your application. For production purposes you will need to use a third-party pass provider, or integrate directly with Apple and Google. Your branding can be extended to the readers with the addition of custom-printed front labels, as an optional extra.

Includes a free license for Dot Origin's popular Read-a-Card software - ideal for customers wanting to integrate with web or desktop applications without using keyboard emulation.

If the VTAP100 PRO reader does not fit your requirement, check out the other versions of VTAP NFC reader. These include specific models with Wiegand or OSDP interfaces for access control and turnstiles and certified PCB modules for integrators, providing both USB and RS-232 serial connectivity.
